Hello, welcome, this is F1Minute and it is the 12th September 2010. We’re talking about the Italian Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso started on pole position, to the delight of the Ferrari home fans, but their hopes were almost dashed as Button overtook the Spaniard for the lead on the first lap. Also on the first lap, Hamilton attempted to dash past Massa but ran into the side of him and ended up in the gravel, unable to continue. The Red Bull drivers fell far back, but Vettel didn’t take his pit stop until the penultimate lap which allowed him to make up many places for fourth. Pit stop strategy also worked out for Alonso, who managed to jump Button again. He won, Button was second with Massa third.
Elsewhere, HRT had a bad race with Senna’s car coming to a halt out on track, and a mechanic being injured in the pitlane when a Yamamoto stop went horribly wrong. The pit lane was closed whilst an ambulance fetched the mechanic. His condition is not thought to be too serious and the team were fined $20,000.
So, Webber has regained the lead in the title battle but it is still all to play for.
