This is F1Minute - Aldo Costa and Geoff Willis set to join Mercedes GP.
Mercedes GP have confirmed that both Geoff Willis and Aldo Costa will join their technical department before the end of the year. Costa officially left Ferrari in May of this year, and will join the German team as Engineering Director on the first day of December.
Willis has previously worked for Honda and Red Bull, but has been acting as a consultant for HRT since March last year. He will join Mercedes GP on the 17th October as Technology Director - returning to the Brackley squad that he left in 2006 when they were Honda. Both will report directly to Bob Bell, who is Technical Director.
Talking of the signings, Team Principal Ross Brawn says: “Geoff is a highly respected engineer with over twenty years of F1 experience and we look forward to his arrival next month. Having worked closely with Aldo for many years, I know he will bring dedication and championship-winning expertise to the team when he joins in December.”
Costa will be involved in design and development, whilst Willis heads up aerodynamics and control systems.
