When it emerged last week that former F1 driver Adrian Sutil had been given a seat fitting at Force India, the rumour mill went into overdrive, but we now know the fitting was for this week’s test in Barcelona.
With the Force India squad the last team to confirm their full driver line-up, both Adrian Sutil and potential racer Jules Bianchi will be granted a day in Barcelona behind the wheel of the new VJM06. Paul di Resta will drive the first two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, with Sutil up on Thursday and Bianchi scheduled for the final day on Friday.
Sutil was last in Formula One in 2011, when he drove for the Force India team - he had been with the Silverstone squad for six years, through their time as Spyker and Midland F1 as well.
This week’s test in Barcelona will also see the return of Fernando Alonso, who left the first week of Ferrari duties to teammate Felipe Massa. The Spaniard should be behind the wheel for the first three days, handing back to Massa on Friday.
