The Force India team have finally revealed who will be filling the spare seat in their car for the 2013 season, with Adrian Sutil announced as teammate to Paul di Resta. The pair were partnered at Force India in 2011, so this is a line up the team and drivers know very well. Jules Bianchi, who was also considered for the race seat, is expected to remain with the team as reserve driver.
Team Principal Vijay Mallya says: “The decision over our driver line-up has not been an easy one and we have given it great consideration over the last few months. It was a close call, but ultimately we felt that Adrian’s experience and historic links to the team gave him the edge, and will provide us with the best possible chance of realising our ambitions for the coming season.”
Sutil himself is ecstatic at this second chance in F1, particularly as his conviction for grievous bodily harm in 2012 could have counted against him. He says: “Everyone can make mistakes in life... Of course it is a tough business, but no one is perfect and that is why life is an adventure.”
