Today is the 28th March 2010, welcome to F1Minute.
Jenson Button has taken his first win of the year, and his second Australian victory in a completely mad race from beginning to end. There was some rain at the start which caused some tyre strategy concerns, but it cleared up and didn’t bother the drivers again.
There were first lap incidents aplenty, as first Alonso and Schumacher went to the back of the field, and then Kobayashi crashed into the wall and came back onto the track, taking out Buemi and Hülkenberg along the way.
The other retirees included Trulli, who never started, Senna, Petrov, Sutil, Vettel, Di Grassi and Glock. Chandhok finished the race in 14th, which was last, but at least he finished!
Towards the front, Hamilton was hustling for third place, with Webber behind him, and the pair collided, knocking them both a little further back. Vettel retired from the lead, handing the victory to Button, who himself had made a good tyre call early on to help propel him up the field. That’s as much as I can fit in 60 seconds, I recommend listening to F1 Digest on Sidepodcast.com for a full recap. See you tomorrow.
