Today is the 27th July 2009 and this is F1Minute.

Following Renault’s suspension from the next race at Valencia, the organisers of the European Grand Prix have asked the FIA to think of the fans. A big proportion of the crowds at Valencia would be made up of Spanish Alonso fans, and organisers say: “As everybody knows, a lot of them have bought tickets to see Fernando Alonso racing in Valencia. We believe they must not be the ones paying for this decision.”

Meanwhile, McLaren are still celebrating their first victory of the year, and now they’ve got a taste for it, they’d like to win again. Whitmarsh says he really needed this win, and it was a special one, as it proved a point to anyone who doubted the team could turn it around. He says: “I’m sure more than a few people were sniggering down their sleeves, but we believed it. I think we had more than enough pace in the bag to control and dominate this race.”

That’s all for now, I’ll be back shortly with an update on Massa’s condition.
