This is F1Minute for the 24th July 2009.
Free Practice got underway today, with Jaime Alguersuari putting many, many laps under his belt ahead of his first Formula 1 race. He finished both sessions last, but the only major problem he had was stalling at the end of the pitlane during a practice start.
Kovalainen was the fastest of the first session, after jumping ahead of Rosberg seconds before the clock hit zero. Hamilton was third, whilst Webber was fourth. The other Red Bull car was down in 15th, as Vettel struggled with his tyre temperatures.
In the afternoon, McLaren continued their strong showing, with Hamilton finishing ahead of Kovalainen in a 1-2 for the team. Behind them Rosberg and Webber, a carbon copy of the morning session. Vettel seemed to conquer his demons, finishing 6th, whilst Massa had several spins and excursions off the track, and finished the day in 18th.
That’s all for now, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
