Welcome to F1Minute, it’s the 20th January 2010.
Michael Schumacher has been given the number three in the FIA entry list, after requesting the step up from 4 from Ross Brawn. He said: “Ross just knows that I like odd numbers,” whilst a Mercedes spokesperson added: “Michael has a preference for odd numbers. He asked if he could be the odd number and we were happy to accept.” The statistics apparently show that Michael has only driven an even numbered car once in his rather successful career, so I guess superstition could be one reason for elbowing Nico out the way.
Elsewhere, Valentino Rossi got behind the wheel of an F2008 today in Barcelona, kicking off a two day test for the team, which will be finished up by Massa on Friday. The car has GP2 tyres on, so as not to crush the testing ban, and everyone involved is keen to suggest the test is simply because Rossi wants to have a go, and not because he’s planning to switch to four wheels any time soon.
That’s all for now, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
