Welcome to F1Minute for the 20th January 2009.
It was BMW’s turn to launch today, with a car strikingly similar to the one that scared us all witless when it tested at the end of last year. The front wing is boxy, the rear wing is hideous, it’s the same old story. The news today saw the team suggest they might not run KERS in Australia, although Mario Theissen has said that the recent criticism of the new technology is probably going over the top a little.
Meanwhile, the test in Portimao continued with Sébastien Buemi retaining his position at the top of the timesheets. However, best of the 2009 cars fell to Pedro de la Rosa in the McLaren, who was three seconds behind the Toro Rosso in very wet conditions. Over at Mugello, Ferrari continued to struggle with the same damp weather.
Finally, Bernie has categorically stated that teams will get no more of the revenue share than they do already, no matter how many times FOTA ask.
That’s it for today, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
