This is F1Minute for the 19th June 2009.
Red Bull dominated Free Practice today, with Vettel leading Mark Webber in the morning session. Several of the teams were running new parts, including Force India, who saw Fisi and Sutil up in 10th and 11th. Piquet had a major spin, damaging the car somewhat. He wasn’t the only one struggling though, several of the other drivers, Toyotas in particular, were finding it hard to keep on track.
During FP2, Vettel once again led Webber, posting the fastest time in the last few moments of the session. This time, Sutil was up to third fastest, with Nakajima fourth. The Force India boys did well out on track, but in the pit lane after the session, Sutil managed to bash Fisi’s car as he passed him to the garage.
Kubica had to have an engine change mid-session, after the team found some worrying data, but the mechanics were uber quick, and Robert ended the day in 11th.
Sadly, the day was overshadowed by the politics, but they’ll be a special F1Minute along shortly to fill you in on all that happened.
