Today is the 19th April 2009 and this is F1Minute.

Vettel converted his pole position into victory in China today, but it was not an easy win. The race started under the safety car as rain was pouring down, but it came in after eight laps to allow the action to get underway.

Alonso pitted from 2nd just as the safety car came in, which put him to the end of the pack, and the gamble didn’t pay off as throughout the race, he was stuck in traffic, and only managed to make it to 9th by the end. Buemi started 10th and ended up 8th, picking up a point and completely overshadowing Bourdais in the process.

Retirees included Trulli, Massa – who’s car just crawled to a stop, Nakajima and Sutil – who was running in 6th before crashing out heavily. Meanwhile, Webber and the Brawn GPs all had a strong race, so that Red Bull secured not only their maiden win but a great 1-2, whilst Button took the third step on the podium with Barrichello close behind.

That’s it for today, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
