This is F1Minute for the 16th October 2009.
Free Practice got underway today with very little of the rain predicted. The forecasts suggest rain for the entire weekend, but today we only saw a couple of showers. Webber posted the fastest time for the first session, with the first thirty minutes particularly and unusually busy. Notable incidents in FP1 included Buemi crashing into the barriers, causing yellow flags, and Grosjean hitting a brake marker, throwing up a spectacular shower of polystyrene.
In the second session, Buemi fared much better, leading for most of the afternoon, until he was beaten in the last few minutes by Renault and Fernando Alonso. There were a few incidents in FP2 as well, with Fisichella stalling at the end of the pitlane. He climbed out of the car but had to get back in again whilst they pushed him back. For championship reference, Barrichello finished ahead of Webber, with Button behind but ahead of Vettel.
That’s all for now, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
