Welcome to F1Minute for the 16th March 2009.
Four teams have started the last test in Jerez before the season begins. Whilst the others make their way to Australia, Renault, McLaren, Brawn GP and Williams have been circling the Spanish track getting some last minute miles in. Yesterday, Barrichello led the way, with the fastest time, as Alonso crashed off after four laps. The team made some hasty repairs and got the Renault out again in the afternoon. McLaren chose not to run on Sunday.
Alonso had a much better day today, posting the fastest time and completing just over 100 laps. Barrichello and Button shared testing duties and ended the day second and third respectively. Hamilton took the McLaren out for 85 laps, whilst Rosberg finished last but got a lot of running in.
Elsewhere, in some positive KERS news, BMW have said that their device is race ready, and they’re just weighing up the pros and cons of running it in Australia.
That’s it for today, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
