It’s the 15th January 2009 and this is F1Minute.
Toyota launched the TF109 today in spectacular online style. We all tuned in to watch the countdown hit zero and as it did, their website died. Nevertheless, once the traffic had calmed somewhat, we got to see a movie trailer, videos with the drivers and top team members, plus plenty of pictures of the new car. As expected, the livery is exactly the same red and white, we learned that Panasonic were extending their sponsorship and the team would be keeping Kobayashi as third driver. Toyota clearly don’t like change.
Team Principal Tadashi Yamashina says things will be different this season though: “Our target this year is to fight to win the first race for Toyota in Formula 1. When I took over as Chairman and Team Principal in 2007 I stated my task for the first year would be to observe, for the second year it would be to improve and for the third year and beyond it would be to succeed.”
That’s it for today, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
