This is F1Minute and it’s the 15th April 2009.
The FIA today confirmed that the three questionable rear diffusers are no longer questionable and are completely legal. After deliberating over the facts yesterday, a statement was released this morning confirming, quote:
"Based on the arguments heard and evidence before it, the Court has concluded that the Stewards were correct to find that the cars in question comply with the applicable regulations.”
Reaction immediately came out from the teams, with Rosberg suggesting that it will take time for the others to copy their diffusers, whilst Adrian Newey of Red Bull is staying home from the race this weekend to work on a new design.
BMW’s Mario Theissen had the strongest words to say, complaining that it’s all well and good that the rear diffusers are legal but they undermine what the Overtaking Working Group were trying to achieve, meaning we might not see as much passing as we’d hoped.
That’s it for today, please join me again tomorrow for another F1Minute.
