Welcome to F1Minute, it’s the 14th January 2009.
Sébastien Buemi is no doubt looking forward to his debut season in Formula 1, but admits he’s not expecting great things. He’s got big shoes to fill, replacing Vettel at Toro Rosso, but said: “You have to be realistic. You have to keep your feet on the ground and not get depressed if the results don’t come immediately… For me personally, I would at least want to be quicker than my teammate.” Of course, that’s going to be hard to judge if Toro Rosso don’t hurry up and pick someone.
Elsewhere, McLaren tester Pedro de la Rosa has been talking to the ITV F1 website, and believes that pit stops this year might take a bit longer than previously. Talking about having to replace the nose and front wing, he said: “You can use a hydraulic system or you can use an electric motor, but whichever you use you still have to connect some type of cables because you’re operating it from the cockpit.” I’m sure the teams will be able to figure a way round that one before the season starts.
That’s it for today, please join me again tomorrow for another F1Minute.
