It’s the 12th March 2008, and this is F1Minute.
Toro Rosso have announced their new car will debut at the Turkish Grand Prix in May, although it will take to the track for the Barcelona test next month. Technical Director Giorgo Ascanelli says that one of the major problems of starting with last year’s car is that reliability is not as strong as he had hoped. He also blames himself for the delay, saying his late arrival to the team last year meant that work on the new car did not begin with enough time to complete before the season opener.
Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen have taken part in a beach kayak race in Australia on behalf of sponsors Vodafone, taking on some local sports stars in the process. They didn’t win, but Hamilton said it was a “great way to prepare for this weekend.”
And very quickly, Alonso, Hamilton and Räikkönen are scheduled to be at the first pre-race press conference tomorrow to face media questions at 3pm local time. Then on Friday at 4pm, Bourdais, Fisichella, Glock, Kovalainen, Piquet, and Webber will take their turn in the hot seats.
That’s all, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
