Today is the 10th September 2009 and this is F1Minute.

Santander have confirmed what has been suspected for a long time - that they are switching sponsorship from McLaren to Ferrari from next year for a five year deal. Santander confirmed they would be Ferrari’s “main” sponsor from 2010, and team boss Luca di Montezemolo said he anticipates them having a fruitful partnership that will increase awareness of both their brands around the world.

Elsewhere, more information emerges about the Renault hearing, with Fernando Alonso saying he didn’t know anything about a plan to cause a safety car to improve his race prospects. Speculation has been rife about why he would accept the bizarre strategy he had, but Alonso says it was simply to go into the race aggressively.

Also a quick note, Kubica has confirmed that Ferrari did talk to him about taking the empty seat for the rest of the season, but he decided that changing teams mid-year would not be ideal.

That’s all for today, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
