Welcome to F1Minute, it’s the 4th August 2009.

I briefly mentioned yesterday that Piquet confirmed he was no longer driving for Renault. He issued a statement on his official website, and as yet there has been no word from the team. This is hardly surprising though, as Piquet wasn’t exactly complementary, saying: “On numerous occasions, fifteen minutes before qualifying and races, my manager and team boss (Briatore) would threaten me, telling me if I didn’t get a good result, he had another driver ready to put in my place. I have never needed threats before to get results.”

In equally catty news, Ferrari posted a short item on their website hitting out at Williams, Red Bull and Toro Rosso for not allowing Schumacher to test this year’s car. Regarding Williams, they said: “Guess who opposed the test with the F60? A team that hasn't won anything for years and yet didn't pass over the opportunity to demonstrate once more a lack of spirit of fair play.” Ouch!

That’s all for today, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
