This is F1Minute and it’s the 2nd September 2009.
Sam Michael, Technical Director of Williams has spoken out about potential drivers for next year and confirmed that current test driver Nico Hülkenberg is in the running for a seat. Sam said that Nico was just one on a growing list of drivers they are contemplating: “It’s a point of discussion internally at the moment and we need to come to a decision in the coming weeks or months. We have a long-term contract and we have to decide whether to engage that or not.” Presumably this also depends on whether they have to change their engine partner.
Elsewhere, Sébastien Buemi has been talking about the chance of Toro Rosso scoring some more points, now that Force India have overtaken them in the constructor’s championship. He says: “We want to be able to score regular points, even if it’s just one or two. We want to be back there. At Spa, we were so close. I had the seventh fastest lap, so we do not need much more.”
That’s all for today, please join me tomorrow for another F1Minute.
