Welcome to F1Minute for the 2nd April 2010.
Free Practice got underway today in Malaysia, with Lewis Hamilton leading both sessions and McLaren in fine form. It was a quiet FP1, with the two reserve drivers taking to the track first - Paul di Resta for Force India and Fairuz Fauzy for Lotus. Alguersuari had electrical issues which kept him in the garage for a long time, and plenty of the drivers struggled to stay on track, including Massa and de la Rosa.
Free Practice 2 was more of the same, Hamilton fast with Vettel also up there on pace. Ferrari ran very slowly with Massa and Alonso near the bottom of the timesheets for a lot of the afternoon. Webber had some kind of engine failure that saw him slide off track into the gravel, whilst many, many cars found their way into the gravel as well, although the others continued on with their running.
Elsewhere, FOTA had a meeting today and talked of potentially bringing back KERS in 2011, and perhaps changing some dimensions on the tyre rims, which could help grip and therefore overtaking.
That’s all for today, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
