Biography

Tim Mayer is son of the former team principal of McLaren Teddy Mayer, and has a rich history of racing in the family. He studied management at university and then joined the US Army, before turning his attention to motorsport in the early 1990s.

He helped to organise IndyCar and and CART races, as well as helping the Brazilian broadcasters cover these series. He was Senior Vice President of Racing Operations for the CART series helping with the logistics of the sport across the globe. Into the new millennium, he became COO of the International Motor Sports Association, alongside the same position for the ALMS series.

In 2008, he became Race Director for the American Le Mans series, but he left both his roles at the end of 2009 to concentrate on his own communications company. He has stewarded various categories of motorsport, including touring cars, junior single seaters, and Formula One.
