Vital statistics for Felipe Giaffone

After experience of motorsport racing in both his home country of Brazil as well as the stock car racing of the USA, Felipe Giaffone turned his attention to broadcasting and stewarding. In 2016, he became and FIA steward of the World Touring Car Championship, as well as making his debut as an F1 steward at Spa.

Most of the Giaffone family have some experience of motorsport racing, with Felipe's father, uncle, cousins and brother all taking part in various forms of high speed endeavour. It was inevitable then, that Felipe himself started racing. After working through the karting and junior formulae in Brazil, Giaffone graduated to the Indy Lights series in the USA.

He won a race during his first year in the series, and finished on the podium many times to earn himself the Rookie of the Year award. However, he saved the best for his second season, finishing fourth in the championship overall and also performing well in the infamous Indy 500 race.

Giaffone returned to Brazil to participate in the Fórmula Truck series in 2007, as well as turning his attention to behind the scenes duties. He became president of the Brazilian Drivers' Association, and started a career in stewarding for both the WTCC and Formula One. He made his F1 stewarding debut at the Belgian Grand Prix in 2016.
