Second practice in America took place on a dry track, but there were still plenty of spins, wobbles and offs as drivers pushed the limits. The Haas crew appeared to be struggling, with both drivers squabbling over track position, complaining about each other over the radio, and running off track at various points as well. Sebastian Vettel had problems with his car, completing 11 laps and finishing third, but seeing repairs on the Ferrari in the garage.

Daniil Kvyat took over duties from Galael in the second session, making his F1 return after stepping back in favour of Gasly. He finished 13th in his first session back.
