Qualifying results - Russian Grand Prix 2017 // Vettel secures pole position as Hamilton drops to fourth

Credit: Ferrari Media

The first session of qualifying was a disappointment for Vandoorne and Palmer, as well as both Sauber drivers, but it was a surprise to see Romain Grosjean last on the timesheets and dropping out of Saturday's running early. In Q2, the fight was on but both Toro Rosso drivers found themselves unable to get into the top ten, instead it was Force India who prevailed.

The top ten shoot out was really a top four shoot out, with eyes on Vettel, Räikkönen, Bottas and Hamilton as all were in with a chance of scooping pole position. However, in the end, they qualified in that order, with Ferrari securing an all-red front row.
