Ferrari were still zooming away at the top of the timesheets for the final hour of practice in Sochi, but at the opposite end of the scale, Jolyon Palmer failed to set a lap time. He completed four installation laps but the team were forced to change the engine ahead of qualifying. His Renault teammate Nico Hülkenberg was in the top ten, showing that the car does have some pace.

Meanwhile, the Mercedes pair were tucked up behind the Ferraris, with Max Verstappen rounding out the top five.
