Jenson Button was already hit with a 15 place grid drop after engine changes on his McLaren Honda, but the team opted to make some tweaks to the floor of the car whilst under parc fermé conditions, so he will now have to start from the pit lane. Meanwhile, Stoffel Vandoorne is also demoted three places after causing a collision in Spain.

Marcus Ericsson takes a five place grid drop for a change of the gearbox on his Sauber which puts him down to the rear of the active field.
