The race was handed to Max Verstappen when Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton collided and dropped back down the field on the first lap. The Red Bull driver kept his head and sped his way to the finish line, though, earning himself another F1 trophy from the top step of the podium. He was lucky his Renault engine got to the end, as four of the six Renault-powered cars failed to see the chequered flag as the engine struggled in the Mexican conditions.

Elsewhere, Vettel and Hamilton were forced to fight back through the field and Vettel did a great job making it back up to fourth place. Hamilton couldn't get quite so far, but he still managed to snatch the 2017 championship.
