Bottas leads as Celis crashes in front of home crowd

Sergio Pérez was celebrating driving in front of the Mexican crowd, and Friday driver Antonio Celis also would have wanted to do the same. Unfortunately, he crashed his Force India and brought out red flags for a difficult morning session. He wasn't alone struggling though. Vandoorne completed just three laps, Hartley also briefly stopped out on track before carrying on but retreating to the garage.

Valtteri Bottas led the way, with Lewis second, but the Red Bull and Ferrari drivers weren't too far behind, and were buoyed by the fact they were running the harder tyre compounds.
