It's an unusual sight for a Ferrari driver not to set a lap time in qualifying, but Sebastian Vettel had to seek special dispensation from the FIA to participate in the race. That was given, considering he was fastest in one of the Friday practice sessions, and so he will be allowed to start from the rear of the field. Meanwhile, there's no major changes elsewhere on the grid. Hamilton is on pole, with Räikkönen behind him and two Red Bull drivers on the next row of the grid.

Pierre Gasly did a good job in his first qualifying session, escaping the drop zone in Q1 in style and dropping out in Q2 along with his teammate.
