The drama didn't end as the second day of the race weekend in Sepang got underway. Ferrari were the fastest team, with Räikkönen ending the hour on top, with Ricciardo sitting behind Vettel for third. In the other Red Bull, Verstappen had a collision with Jolyon Palmer, and the Renault lost a significant portion of his front wing.

Fernando Alonso and Romain Grosjean both spun out on track, but continued onwards. Engine trouble surfaced for Kevin Magnussen in the other Haas, whilst Vettel also seemed to slow up towards the end of the session and headed back to the garage.
