Lewis Hamilton stood on the top step of the podium in Suzuka, but he was sixth on the fastest laps list. In fact, ahead of him were Bottas and Räikkönen and both the Red Bull drivers, as well as the surprisingly speedy Stoffel Vandoorne.

Jolyon Palmer finished within the top ten fastest drivers on race day, for his final race in F1 at the moment. He was just ahead of Pierre Gasly, continuing to impress with his solid start in the sport. Down on pace were both the Haas drivers, in 13th and 14th place on the table, but they both finished in the points which is what really counts.
