Race results - Italian Grand Prix 2017 // Hamilton wins as Ricciardo makes up ground

Hamilton wins as Ricciardo makes up ground

Lewis Hamilton was comfortable out front, which left us watching the Red Bull drivers. Max Verstappen picked up an early puncture which ruined his strategy and sent him to the back of the field. He had to recover and fought his way back into the top ten. Daniel Ricciardo started further back on the grid than his teammate, and managed to make his strategy work to great effect - rising up to chase Vettel for the final podium position. He had to settle for fourth, but put on quite the show whilst doing so.

In fact, Ricciardo was the main attraction as the rest of the event was tame in comparison. The race leader was untroubled out front, there were just a handful of muted retirements, and some radio traffic complaining about other drivers or unbalanced cars.
