Although the order at the top didn't change that much or that often, it was still a tense race with the gaps between the cars ebbing and flowing and keeping everyone guessing about how it would eventually work itself out. Teammates found themselves having to work together, but no one could get near the Ferrari pair in the end, as they finished in a comfortable 1-2 position.

There was disappointment for Daniel Ricciardo who retired on the first lap after being knocked out of the race by his teammate, and for Paul di Resta who did a sterling job on his one-off opportunity but suffered an oil leak on his Williams.
