There were no position changes towards the top of the championship table, but Valtteri Bottas closed the gap towards the top two drivers, and Kimi Räikkönen moved to within one point of Daniel Ricciardo. Max Verstappen also made some ground but he has a long way to go to catch up to the front runners, with almost fifty points.

Further down the order, Fernando Alonso moved up two places, deposing both Wehrlein and the ailing Kvyat. Stoffel Vandoorne also got a point to his name, and that propelled him up two places as well.
