I'd have put money on Sebastian Vettel scooping the fastest lap of the race, as the Ferrari driver bolted on fresh tyres towards the end, scampered past not one but two Force India cars and set about hunting down a podium. He missed out on that trophy, and also missed out on the fastest lap, ending up second to Hamilton's first place.

Fernando Alonso was surprisingly fast around the Montreal circuit, despite that depressing sight of his McLaren pulling to a halt before the end of the race again. Lance Stroll also picked up the pace, impressing in his home race.
