Mercedes secured a 1-2 finish at Silverstone which allowed them to extend their lead over Ferrari yet further. Whereas the first part of the season saw the two teams locked in a very close battle, Mercedes have had the advantage since Canada. Red Bull remain a distant third, but continue to increase their points haul each weekend.

Another double points finish for Force India helped them keep their distance in fourth as well, whilst the battle for fifth looks more and more interesting. Williams, Toro Rosso, Haas and Renault are all scrapping for points, with Renault making a surge forward this weekend but no positions changing hands.
