Sebastian Vettel survived another strategy scare to take victory in the Bahrain race, with Lewis Hamilton having to settle for second place. Vettel pitted and then saw the safety car come out to afford others a free pit stop, but this time it worked in his favour and he swept into the lead and retained it to the finish.

Behind him there were a lot of battles for position, and plenty of retirements as well. Vandoorne failed to start the race, whilst Alonso failed to finish. Stroll and Sainz collided after the Toro Rosso exited the pit lane, and the stewards decided to investigate that after the race.
