Race results - Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2017 // Chaotic racing afternoon culminates in unusual podium lineup

Smaller teams shine as Baku racing turns to chaos

The Azerbaijan weekend was one of maximising opportunities as they arrived and trying as hard as possible to avoid bad luck or damage. For all three of the podium finishers, their final result came as something of a surprise. Ricciardo started tenth, dropped back at the start and ended up winning. Bottas was a lap down at one point after yet another first lap collision with Kimi Räikkönen. And Stroll just kept his head down and stayed out of trouble to finish third.

Jolyon Palmer's troubled weekend ended with an early retirement, whilst Max Verstappen and Nico Hülkenberg must also rue the fact they couldn't get to the end of what could have been a profitable afternoon's work.
