It was all-Mercedes out front, with Lewis Hamilton chasing Valtteri Bottas to the line but the Finnish driver taking the top spot of the podium. Ferrari couldn't put up much of a fight, and Max Verstappen rounded out the top five. In the other Red Bull, Daniel Ricciardo retired with hydraulic failure just before half distance. About ten laps later, Carlos Sainz almost crashed in the pit exit tunnel after his Renault was released without all its wheels attached properly.

They were the only retirements, however, in a relatively tame race that brought the season to a long and final end.
