The first two practice sessions were close between Ferrari and Mercedes, but in the final hour of running, Hamilton and Bottas moved ahead. Lewis posted the fastest time of the session with Bottas behind, and Hamilton had half a second on third place Kimi Räikkönen.

It was a quiet session, one not very reflective of the conditions waiting for teams in qualifying and practice due to the time of day, but there were a couple of spins. There was also an odd moment when a giant umbrella somehow ended up at the apex of one of the corners - quickly retrieved by a marshal.
