Sebastian Vettel was the fastest driver during second practice in Mexico, but he only managed to sneak ahead of Lewis Hamilton by just four thousandths of a second. The Brit struggled with tyre wear and grip, but still managed a respectable lap time. Meanwhile, other drivers were finding it tough to stay on track, as many spun including Massa, Pérez and Nasr.

Fernando Alonso sat out much of the second half of the session with his McLaren picking up some mechanical issues, and Romain Grosjean had electrical issues on his Haas that kept him in the garage as well.
