Force India weren't expecting to be able to hold on to their fourth place here in Mexico, as the track was considered to be one they weren't as strong on. Sergio Pérez spent an entire race staring at the rear wing of Felipe Massa, which didn't help them, but Nico Hülkenberg sort of saved the day. He started well, and managed to get through the first lap unscathed, survived a spin and got to the end of the race, so that the gap between the two now sits at nine points.

Meanwhile, Sauber were desperately hoping they could score their first points this weekend, and they had a driver running just outside the top ten. Marcus Ericsson finished 11th overall, which means they remain on zero points.
