It was Rosberg on top for the third practice session in a row, as he posted the fastest time in the final hour of practice before qualifying. Daniel Ricciardo was in second place, three tenths of a second down on the leader, as Lewis Hamilton dropped down the order after failing to get a qualifying style flying lap completed.

The track was damp as the session got underway after earlier rain, so it was intermediate tyres on the cars initially, with slicks following soon after. Haas continued to have problems, with both drivers running wide off track at various locations. Carlos Sainz also struggled, finishing last on the timesheets after just three laps.
