Free Practice 1 results - German Grand Prix 2016 - Mercedes dominate practice with Rosberg on top

Rosberg took the top spot at the first practice session of his home race weekend, but Mercedes were miles ahead of everyone else anyway. Sebastian Vettel, in third place, was a full second behind the pace of the front runners. Nine of the drivers, at the other end of the timesheets, were more than three seconds off the pace of Rosberg.

Meanwhile, the duo of Charles Leclerc and Esteban Ocon were back in their respective Haas and Renault cars, appearing in Friday practice for the third weekend in a row. Most of the drivers struggled to get turn one right, but there were no major incidents throughout the field, getting the weekend off to a good start for all.
