Race results - Monaco Grand Prix 2015 - Mercedes take victory despite embarrassing strategy error

Rosberg wins in Monaco

Mercedes managed to get one of their drivers on the top step of the podium, with Nico Rosberg securing his third Monaco victory in a row. It was an intensely lucky position for the German to end up in, though, benefitting from a poor strategy call affecting his teammate. Hamilton had dominated the race but a miscommunication with the team meant he pitted under the safety car and lost two places with no chance to get them back.

The safety car was out for Max Verstappen, who crashed into the back of an early-braking Romain Grosjean and hit the barrier. He was unharmed but frustrated after what had been a good run up to that point. Fernando Alonso and Pastor Maldonado also retired, both with mechanical issues.
