Nico Rosberg's victory in Monaco allowed him to close the gap to championship leader Lewis Hamilton to just ten points, which helps keep hopes alive for a closer fight over the next few races. There wasn't too much movement at the top of the standings, but towards the rear there was some excitement.

Jenson Button picked up McLaren's first points of the season, securing four championship points and moving up to 16th place. Sergio Pérez and Daniil Kvyat also made strides up the standings after good finishes in the principality.
