Sebastian Vettel scooped his first win since 2013, and his first for Ferrari, after taking a different strategy to the two Mercedes driver. Rosberg attempted to get past Vettel off the line but the four times world champion held his ground. Later, he was attempting a passing move on race leader Lewis Hamilton, but the Brit dived into the pit lane handing the win to Vettel.

Neither McLaren driver made it to the end of the race, whilst Pastor Maldonado also failed to see the chequered flag. The Williams pair of Bottas and Massa finished in the top ten, and both Toro Rosso drivers finished ahead of their Red Bull counterparts. Kimi Räikkönen finished fourth despite two delayed pit stops.
