Free Practice 1 results - Japanese Grand Prix 2015 - Wet session at Suzuka sees only twelve drivers set times

The wet weather on Friday morning in Japan meant many drivers attempted only an installation lap or two, without bothering to set a lap time for the first practice session. The mixed up running saw Toro Rosso on top with Carlos Sainz half a second up on Daniil Kvyat in the Red Bull.

The session started out in manageable conditions but the track worsened throughout the morning, with several drivers complaining of aquaplaning by the time running was over. Only twelve drivers set timed laps, with Kimi Räikkönen completing the most number of laps altogether with 15.
