Lewis Hamilton was in fine form as he set the pace for first practice in Italy. He was almost half a second up on teammate Nico Rosberg, and a further second faster than best-of-the-rest Sebastian Vettel. Ferrari teammate Kimi Räikkönen couldn't quite match the pace of Vettel, but he also completed fewer laps and spent time in the garage as well.

There were no major problems for drivers, although Max Verstappen had a significant off through the gravel. Also, both the McLaren drivers had fresh engines on their cars, which means they will have to take yet more grid penalties for the race on Sunday.
